Saved Doc opens for others showing Final Markup

Hello,

I saved a doc and closed it after doing the following:

1. Accepting each/all changes.

2. Changing the view from Final Markup to Final

3. Turning off Track Changes.

When I open the doc it displays in Final form with Track Changes Off.  When others open the doc it appears in Final Markup and shows edit comments in a panel on the right.

I've reviewed my Word settings to see if there is something I can tweak, but haven't found a solution yet.

Thanks very much for your help.

If you have indeed accepted/rejected all changes, there won't be any for other users to see when they open the document. There is nothing you can do to control whether a document opens in Original or Final view, with or without Markup for another user; that is controlled by Word settings at the user's end.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for your reply.  I'd like to say I agree with your response but I can't.  All changes are accepted.  Others see my revisions even after the steps I listed are completed.  It's very frustrating.

Unless your document is corrupt, it simply isn't possible for tracked changes that have been accepted/rejected to remain in a document that has been saved. Are you saving the 'final' before sending it on? Are you sure you're not sending a different copy?

As I said, it's also possible the document has acquired some for of corruption. Corrupt documents can often be 'repaired' by inserting a new, empty, paragraph at the very end, copying everything except that new paragraph to a new document based on the same template (headers & footers may need to be copied separately), closing the old document and saving the new one over it. You may still have to accept/reject any tracked changes after the 'repair'.
