Same method for GAL seperation in 2007 and 2010?
Hello, Will the GAL seperation/hiding method found here (http://www.exchange-genie.com/2007/10/hidding-global-address-lists-gal-with-exchange-2007/) for Exchange 2007, work for Exchange 2010? I have Exchange 2010 in a forest that has multiple domains and will have more added in the future. I need to keep the Address Lists between users in these domains 100% seperate. They don't need to know the others even exist. Another question, if I do this method and add future users to these domains, will I have to manually go into ADSIedit and change the new user's MSExchQueryBaseDN? I suppose a script could do it, but I don't have much experience writing scripts to change AD/Exchange properties. Thanks!

Currently unsupported. Watch Dave's blog for future info. http://blogs.msdn.com/b/dgoldman/archive/2010/09/09/the-future-of-exchange-2010-address-list-segregation.aspx Well it's been 3.5 months and I don't see any update... The method I was referring to in my original post is here: http://www.exchange-genie.com/2007/10/hidding-global-address-lists-gal-with-exchange-2007/ So Steve, you are saying if I do this, my environment could be destroyed? That seems pretty extreme since a lot of the changes seem to be on the user objects. That said, it's completely ridiculous that MS doesn't have a supported way to do this since it is quite popular...

Yes, Dave has said as much in other posts: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchange2010/thread/b28c102e-61d5-4d17-8aea-4e992a3fdbc3/ The white paper for 2007 *DOES NOT* work on Exchange 2010. Anyone that tries to use this white paper on Exchange 2010 will have to tear down their exchange infrastructure and start over due to the architectural changes in 2010. As for timelines, I couldnt tell you, but I do know they are working on it and will hopefully have something to announce publically in the near future.
