SMTP VS message filtering works for external emails, but not internal smtp clients
We have our Exchange 2003 Server setup with the SMTP virtual server using message filtering to put any email addressed to our domain, but not in our Active Directory, into a CatchAll mailbox. This works fine for external emails, but when we send an email from an internal smtp client, it fails to put the email into CatchAll and also returns error 5.1.1 account does not exist. Can anyone help me figure out what's wrong and how to fix this, please?

We are doing recipient filtering. Our situation is that we have a specific "To Address" format that is being filtered and put in a mailbox. This "to address" format is specifically not in AD. For example, emails addressed to ZZ[999]_Q@domain.com where [999] represents any 3 digits are put into a specific mailbox. This works for any external smtp servers, but not internal smtp clients.
