SMTP Server Connectivity from Scanners/backup Exec/other programs
I have a SBS 2008 server with Exchange 2007. The server is completely updated. The server was deployed at the start of 2010. The firewall is turned off. I cannot connect to send message via SMTP even with proper authentication. I have setup the recieve connectors to accept all from the local network. I have even setup the recieve connectors to accept from the local network with all types of authentication including anonymous. I cannot get Backup exec to send me alert emails. I cannot get my network scanners to email scans. I cannot get my inventory application to email out notifications. Any ideas?

Turn on SMTP loging if not on, and see the error that is generated when trying to send mail. If possible post it here. Tnx

I found this after some more searching Get-ReceiveConnector "Default Server" | Add-ADPermission -User "NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON" -ExtendedRights "ms-Exch-SMTP-Accept-Any-Recipient" Ran it and it now works. I Don't really like this as it is now doing it anonymously and I'd rather have it authenticating but I guess there is no other way of doing this.

Their is a way to do it, it just depend how u are authenticating.. The logs are saing u are NOT authenticaing, and that is true, as u can see from the logs u are goint straight to mail from:, but u are supposed to send your credentials before specifing the sender and etc...
