SMTP
Do any of you all use a third party device or software to point products that need unauthenticated SMTP email like for alerts and such or do you just use your exchange servers?

Depends what it is and where it is going. If it is going to internal users only, then straight at Exchange. If it is going to an external address then I will often point it at the ISPs SMTP server. UPS notifications ALWAYS use an external SMTP server, as there will be external addresses in there and I want to know the site has gone down without having to think whether Exchange is up long enough.
