SERIOUS problem with a user's inbox (Exchange 2007 SP3) after he installed Live Essentials 2011!
One of my users installed WLE2k11 on his home computer (connected to the domain over VPN and our Exchange 2007 SP3). This for some reason messed ALL HIS MAILBOX FOLDERS, something that also synced with Exchange and so no even in OWA there is no Inbox (!) but right after login, he sees ALL his emails (even those that were in folders) directly! In the left no tree node seems selected (there is a bunch of numbered "Sync Issues" folders) and clicking them one by one I cannot go back to this black hole of emails. Only if I relogin. He removed Live Essentials but this didn't resolve anything. To make things worse, contrary to my advice he logged in his office computer and his off-line mailbox synced with the mess in Exchange and kill that local profile's mailbox too. There is no backup for this specific mailbox (don't ask) and I wonder what are the best steps to recover as much as I can. As I said, there isn't even an "Inbox" in the mailbox tree... ALSO WHY THE ____ DID THIS HAPPEN!

So nobody can help me at least to properly remove/re-add a mailbox to an existing user? I know the general procedure, I need to double/triple check with other though. Bear in mind I need to make this as "drop in place" as possible (same SMTP etc.). An update to my description though (in fact major change). The user didn't install Live Essentials 2011 after all. He installed Outlook Social connectors...

this is what I would personally do. create a temp user (AD user only no mailbox) disable the mailbox (currupted) for the user - it will remove the mailbox and leave user settings intact (only removed exchange attributes) create a new mailbox for the existing user that you just disable the mailbox for. now go to disconnected mailbox and try to attach this to temp user and see if you can see the contents. let me know how it goes. If you dont see any contents in the mailbox of the temp user we can try a few things on it. Good luck MCSE | MCITP - Server 2008 | MCITP - Exchange 2007 | MCTS - Exchange 2010

Hi NULUSIOS, Or you can try to Disable(not Remove) the mailbox for the user, then go to "Disconnected Mailbox" to connect the disconnected mailbox to it's original user. After re-connecting, please open OWA to check. About the corrupted local profile, please run SCANPST.exe to repair it.
