SBS Server 2003 - Exchange mail routing, multiple domains
I am using SBS server with exchange with multiple domains, I have set in the default recipients, each domain, and added the required address to each user account and can route mail to each users mail box. However I have a problemas I requirean email address info@exchange.com and info@someotherdomain.co.uk and info@domain.com how can I route these to different user accounts?as itappears that the FQDN in the default virtual SMTP serverie info@exchange.comis required in each mailbox to route email to that user.Your thoughts would be appreciated as I cannot find a solution and am thinking this is not possible on one domain.

Yes, remove remaining two email address from the user account and untick "Automatically update email addressbased on recipient policy" checkbox. Create two mailboxes for other two smtp addresses and same, untick the checkbox for recipient policy on them too...Amit Tank | MVP Exchange Server | MCITP: EMA | MCSA: M | http://ExchangeShare.WordPress.com

Hi Paul, Whether you would like to have message which sent to info@exchange.com, info@someotherdomain.co.uk and info@domain.com is delivered to another users mailbox? If I am off base, please let me know. Please understand when message is submitted to Exchange Server, Exchange will attempt to resolve the Recipient Email address by querying AD. If the Recipient is resolved to an internal mailbox enabled user, the message will be marked as local delivery (if the Exchange Server has the mailbox) or deliver to another Exchange Server based on the homemdb attribute of the user. Therefore, for your requirement, I think that you can simple create a mailbox enabled user with above email address listed in ProxyAddress attribute. If another user already has the email addresses, as Amit suggested, you can remove them and add to the new user. Hi Mike Thanks for your reply, I have checked this on another SBS server and it appears to work OK, this particular SBS server will not route email to a users mailbox unless it has the default FQDN email address in the user mailbox. So for example to have an email delivered to paul@domain.com I have to also put an address paul@exchange.com in the user mailbox to receive mail in that users mailbox. I have checked all the default recipient settings and cannot see why this is working this way. Thanks Paul
