Hello,I would suggest you to check the KB mentioned by Johan and even run ExBPA and fix all the recommendation and reboot the server.here is one KB i would like to checkUnderstanding Exchange Performancehttp://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124583(EXCHG.65).aspxand here are few questions which i would like to ask. What is the size of the database? Is the issue persist if you dismount the mailbox store? - If Yes then there is a issue with the database... and isinteg would fix that issue. How much MEM you have in the server? Is the exchange database and transaction logfiles at the same drive?Where is the temp drive location?Do you have any AV on the exchange server? and have you set the correct exclussion for exchange?Anti-Virus folder exclusions have not been configuredhttp://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa997602.aspxArun Kumar | MCSE - 2K3 + Messaging | ITIL-F V3

Thank you for your response. I am taking a slow approach. Research was primary activity and setting up a full text index was a thought. The database size is near 14 Gig (Priv1. edb=10 Gig & stm=4 Gig combined). This Exchange install is at Service Pack 1 so my next thought was to install SP2. The RAM installed in the server is 4 Gig. I am looking for the transaction logs and will assume that they are on the same drove as the defaults were taken for this install. The Temp and tmp directories are both set to the default. My preferred set is to move temporary directories to c:\temp and c:\tmp and be happy. Then you can quickly look into the temp folders to see what is going on and stored there. Have not install the best practice or analysis tools yet. Like I said, slow approach. Do not want to throw a bunch of 'it might fix it' remedies all at once and then not know what really did address the original issue as well as not induce another problem. Start looking into the AV software exclusions. This install was once upon a time Symantec AV but now has changed to McAfee and I am not as fluent yet with this AV as Symantec. Will look at the exclusions and insure they follow recommendation. What else?

Hi,Please install Exchange 2003 Service Pack 2 first. Then use Microsoft Update website to install all latest updates for your SBS server. Keep the system in the latest updated status is recommended. Then run Exbpa as Arun suggested, it will help you identify the issue in your Exchange. Thanks,Elvis

While reviewing the server in prep for .NET 3.5 Update, and error report request to send indicates that two DLL's - exsp.dll & offfilt.dll have generated some errors. The App version 6.5.7638.1 and mod ver 200210.4.0 respectively are identified. Looking and just thinking off the cuff, and reading more of the error report, the MS Exchange Security Provider application is not playing happy for some reason. Does this lead to some insight from your prospective?Ed...
