SBS 2003 - 2008 swingit migration - Self-signed cert Questions
Hello Everyone. We are in the process of migrating to SBS 2008 (this weekend is the switch over date :( At the moment , our SBS 2003 box has a self-signed certificate for mail.testdomain.com (for example) Remote users (outlook 2003 over http) are using this self-signed certificate. Now , we are configuring the SBS 2008 box, and by default the Internet Domain Name wizard from SBS console has generated a internet name of remote.testdomain.com which is obviously different to our existing self-signed certificate that resides on our 2003 box , that Remote Outlook users are configured to use. my questions are; 1. I have purchased a godaddy single name SSL certificate, based on the CSR generated by SBS 2008, i.e. for remote.testdomain.com . Should I import this certificate on the SBS 2008 box, using the web server import wizard ? ...bearing in mind , existing Outlook remote users are pointing to; https://mail.testdomain.com msstd:mail.testdomain.com 2. If this statement above is correct, what changes will have to make on with people who have Outlook 2003 configured to use the self-signed instead if the new third party SSL? 3. Will this affect users that have activesync installed on their mobile devices? 4. Will any changes on the SBS server required, otherthan importing the third-party SSL , e.g. do we need to tell SBS 2008 that the self-signed certificate is no longer in use? 5. Will this affect internal users / services on our internal domain? Many thanks
