Tried to install the S/MIME control on a Windows XP x64 which worked perfectly fine.Anyone have an idea what's happening? Is it a compatibility problem? Can you download an updated control somewhere?

Hi, Thanks for your response and sorry for delay in response. After some research, I suspect that the issue may relate to following product issue. Please check whether the hotfix has been installed the Exchange Server: How to use Certificate Services Web enrollment pages together with Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922706/en-us After installing the hotfix, please restart server to check whether the issue persists. If the issue persists, would you please let me know? 1. Whether all the Vista clients are able to reproduce the issue? Or only specific Vista Client encounters the problem? 2. Would you please describe the issue more detailed? From your description, I guess that since removing Microsoft Outlook Web Access S/MIME component from Control Panel, the certificate error is encountered when logging off OWA every time. Please correct me if I misunderstood the current situation. Mike Shen TechNet Subscriber Support in forum If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tngfb@microsoft.com

Hi,Unfortunately the updatedidn't help.I'm still getting the error when I've gotthe Outlook Web Access S/MIME component installed. The error happens on all of our Windows Vista x64 machines and also on a new Windows 7 x86 machine.Just to clarify: I don't get any errors when the Outlook Web Access S/MIME component isn't installed.

Hi, Thanks for your response. I have created lab with Vista and I am able to reproduce the issue on my lab. After some research, I notice the issue related to UAC which enabled on Vista and Windows 7 by default. After disable UAC, I do not encounter the error again. Please refer following article to disable UAC to check whether the issue persists:http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/disable-user-account-control-uac-the-easy-way-on-windows-vista/Thanks,Mike

Hi Mike,I would really prefer to keep UAC enabled mostly because of the added security in IE (Protected Mode).Any alternative solutions?Thank you, Henrik

Hi Henrik,After further research and consult our internal discussion group, I do not find other workaround except to disable UAC. Therefore, if you would not like to disable UAC, I suggest you submit a case regarding the issue to check whether they have further suggestions. Thanks,MikePS: I would like to explain that you can also run the IE brower as Administrator when accessing OWA. Based on my test, by using the method, you will not receive the error. Nevertheless, I think that it is not a good workaround.

Just add the website url (OWA url) to IE's Trusted Site Zone. This will allow UAC to trust the site preventing the Error: (0x80070005): Access is denied when logging off.
