Running live, but want to build a test machine to deploy live after...?
I am running Exchage 2007 on a VM machine and currently running the rtm version. I am wanting to upgrade to sp1 or sp2 but I want to build a test case on another VM machine, have it all set up correctly and then when d-day hits, i want to import the datase from the live machine to the test machine, make the necesary changes to the test machine and roll the test machine live. Does anyone see any problems with having both exchange servers up and running but only importing the database at roll out time or is their a simpier way to do this?

Sure, you can do that. Exchange 2007 supports database portability: ( You can argue that you dont really need to do that, but it can be done!)http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa998340(EXCHG.80).aspxHow to Restore a Mailbox Database to a New Server with Database PortabilityMore Info:http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb123954(EXCHG.80).aspxhttp://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/Moving-Exchange-Server-2007-database-Mailbox-servers.html
