Running in to an endless loop when saving a Word file combining tow files

I'm trying to combine tow Word (docx) files.

after adding the file though the object ->create from file or by copying and pasting the content of the other file in to the first I get an endless loop of the "save as" dialog (the file dos has a name).

this are tow big files with a loot of charts, tables, headers, footers ex. that can not be changed or modified.

How can I make the combination work?

Thanks

Hi Netanel At Nite,

Based on your description, you combined 2 Word files and you cannot save them. Could you tell me which version of Word are you using now? And you said >>that cannot be changed and modified<<, you asked >> How can I make the combination work? <<. Could you tell me the meaning of >>work<<? Did you only wonder to save the Word file without Save as dialog box loop, or you wonder to the contents which are combined in your Word file can be changed and modified and save it successfully?

For remove the Save as dialog box loop I suggest you try to save it as .doc file, if it can save successfully. Please try to click the Unblock button in the File Properties dialog box should take care of the problem. Right-click the icon for the affected Word document in Windows Explorer and click Properties.

And there is another method as a workaround you can try:

  1. Install a clipboard manager.
  2. Switch to Word, press Ctrl+A to select everything and copy it.
  3. Use clipboard manager to export clipboard to a file. Clipboard should be preserved anyway, but do it just in case.
  4. Close all instances of Word. Copying everything to a new instance will work, but you need a full Word restart first. It may throw some errors when closing the last window, ignore them. Kill it with Task Manager if needed.
  5. Open Word and paste your document. If it's not in the clipboard anymore, import it with clipboard manager first.
  6. Saving as docx should now work.

If my understanding is incorrect, please let me know Im glad to help and follow up your reply.

Hi George and thank you for your answer.

I'm running MS Word 2010.

My problem is that after I paste the second file at the end of the first file (wdUseDestinationStylesRecovery) and try to save the file I receive an endless loop of the "save as" dialog.

I'v tried the measures you offered to no use, I still receive the "save as" loop.

Sincerely,
