I added a rule to block email with the word Cialis in it.

However the domain I send email to is is.co.za and the rule blocks it. How daft is this. The rule should look for the whole word not parts of it

Is there a way to make it look at the whole word, or am I going to be inundated with adverts for Cialis?

Rules apply to incoming not outgoing mail.

How did you created that transport rule exactly ? Is it applying to all emails being routed through your organization ?

If you're sending from one of your users and the rule triggers incorrectly, you can do a pipeline tracing in order to see exactly what blocks it, and also the original message for further inspection.

The rule is set to look in the subject and/or body for certain words eg Cialis. the action is set to delete the email.

This is then applied to all emails inbound and outbound AFAIK.

However, the question is how does the rule affect an address which contains a subset of the offending word. In other words, why is it not constrained to search and action the subject and/or the body?

I create the same transport rule as you described in my test environment. Then I send the message to the user is.co.za with subject line is.co.za and message body is.co.za. But exchange will not block this message, and the user received this message. So please tell us more detail about your transport rule, a screen shot is better.
