Root CA certificate expires soon
Hi Forum! What will happen to my Windows Mobile 5.0, 6.0 and 6.1 clients, when I renew my root certificate with the same key? The root certificate is installed on the mobile devices as a trsuted ca. Will they be able to keep synchronizing? If not, how can I do this?TIAAlex

I guess you will have to install the renewed cert to mobile devices. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/915840 Vinod |CCNA|MCSE 2003 +Messaging|MCTS|ITIL V3|

After you renew a CA, the CA continues to issue certificates by using the new CA certificate, and the cycle starts over. The prerenewal CA certificate remains trusted, so nonexpired certificates that were issued by the prerenewal CA continue to be trusted until they expire or are revoked -----------Refer to <Renewing Certification Authorities > Yes, per my knowledge, we need to deploy the new certificate to the mobile device, otherwise, the device will get the error like This CA Root Certificate is not trust Notes: If you have any further question about the procedure for the root CA renewal, please use Windows Server forum which would be the best place for the question Resources: Renewing a certification authority
