Rollback procedure for a exchange 2013 cross-forest migration

Hi all,

Would anyone know of a article to assist in rollback procedure for a failed exchange migration. I'm currently planning a cross-forest migration from multiple sources to exchange 2013.

3 different source environment:

Windows server 2003 32 bits with exchange 2003 sp2

Windows server 2008 R2 64 bits with exchange 2007 sp3

Windows server 2008 R2 64 bits with exchange 2010 sp3

1 target environment:

Windows server 2012 with exchange 2013 CU3

thanks for the help

Hi

I don't believe there is an article that deals with rollbacks like that as it depends on how you migrated the mailboxes in the first place.  Are you using 3rd party tools?

Hi,

From your description, I would like to clarify the following things.

1. We cannot migrate from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2013 directly. We can migrate to Exchange 2007 SP3 or Exchange 2010 SP3 and then to Exchange 2013. Also, we can export all the 2003 users' mailboxes into .PST and then import them into 2013 mailboxes.

2. Please take your time to post the failed information for my further research.

Besides, I don't see an official article to clarify the rollback steps about Exchange migration.

Hope my clarification is helpful.

If you need further assistance, please feel free to let me know.

Best regards,
Amy

We are using a 3rd party tools , asking them for a rollback procedure didn't get me far.

their answer was that no specific document exist on rolling back a user.

i found several articles on rolling back public folders so i got this part covered.

Hi ,

1) yes i forgot to specify that an exchange 2010 will be part of the target environment for a exchange 2003 to 2013 migration.

2) i don't have any failed information yet , we are still in the planning phase. its may seems irrational but the client want the option to rollback all of the users if a certain amount of them failed to migrate.

thanks you for your helps , i will have a chat with my 3rd party tools provider to see if anything can be done.
