Roaming profiles Outlook 2007

Had a question regarding roaming Outlook profiles. Is this a common thread for Outook 2007...where any user logging on through AD on a 'foreign' machine will be able to access their mail through Outlook without having to enter server info etc...?
Also, is there an easy way to set this up on Outlook 2003?

Outlook 07 with Exchange 07 will use the autodiscover service to configure the outlook profile. This feature is not available in outlook 2003.
Now if you are using roaming profiles in the active directory sense of the term, then everything in the users' directory would follow them to any machine in the domain/forest.http://www.windowsnetworking.com/articles_tutorials/Profile-Folder-Redirection-Windows-Server-2003.html

Hm...well wouldn't you be able to utilize roaming profiles to copy over Outlook settings folders?

You certainly could. Just be aware of the network and performance implications.

Is the roaming profile different than the creation of a new profile when an AD user authenticates to the doman on a new computer?

Very different as the entire profile directory is copied from a network share (think WAN implications). This definitly isn't something to just 'turn on' without doing your homework.

Hm...due to my AD ignorance where are the user profile directories stored? On the primary DC? Also, if a user 'roams' to a certain pc often, does the network copy append any profile changes or does it doaclean copy every time?

You can define locations. The entire profile is copied to/from network share on logon/logoff
