Revert Back Exchange 2013 to Exchange 2010

Dear All,

I migrated Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013 but was facing lot of issues on Windows XP clients with Office 2007 SP3 with November update. XP clients machine were continuously prompted user name and password and some times windows 7 with Office 2007 SP3 with November update were also behaved like this. I googled alot but couldn't find any solutions.

Lastly decided to revert back to Exchange 2010, every thing went fine but again hurdles started on IMAP/POP3 clients that are not able to send email external domain but able to receive emails from external domains.

The other issue is in Exchange 2013 made some contacts which was deleted in Exchange 2013 but those contacts are now in GAL but couldn't find where these contacts are sit in and how to remove.

Kindly someone guide on those issues and specially on XP machine prompted username and password as I have to again migrate the users from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013.

Thanks,

Hi ,

Step 1 : To avoid the windows XP related issues in exchange 2013 , please have a look in to the below mentioned link.

http://clintboessen.blogspot.in/2014/10/windows-xp-clients-must-match.html

Step 2 : To overcome the GAL issue , please update the GAL in exchange server and check the results. Before that make sure that the deleted contacts are not residing in any of the domain controllers.I mean to verify that the replication between the domain controllers is working fine.

On the outlook client end please update the offline address book and check the results.Same time please update the offline address book on the server end by using the below mentioned command.

Get-OfflineAddressBook | Update-OfflineAddressBook

Step 3 : For POP and imap issues , please share me the error message which is appearing while you are trying to send an email to external world.

Same time on the client end just try to telnet the pop and imap server by using the telnet command over port no 587 and check the results.

Did you made any recent changes on the client receive connectors in exchange

Hi Nithyanandham,

Thank you once again to come up and help me out :). I will try this on coming week as on I am on outside city.

2. I did this to update Offline address book but unable to get the desire result. The main issue is that Exchange 2013 is still live in production although have moved all mailboxes to 2010. One thing I want to share that in EMC on Exchange 2010 there are 2 Default GAL one is in False state which is on 2010 and other is True which is on 2013. When try to update both GAL from 2010 CMDlet there are some warning of invalid entries of AD\Exchange Objects\Monitoring that these are the system health object invalid. Please guide

3. POP/IMAP issue on client error is unable to relay 550.5.7.1 unable to relay.

on receive connector there was a relay connector but some one made changes in relay connector and after that it was stop working. Yes I removed that relay connector and emails were working fine in between 2010 to 2013 but after that I moved all mailboxes to Exchange 2010.

Kindly suggest on both 2 and 3 points the way to resolve these issues.

Thanks

Hi,

If the forest/domain was originally prepped for Exchange 2013, you cannot go back and install Exchange 2010 into it.

Outlook 2007 SP3 is supported by Exchange 2013, more details about Exchange Server Supportability Matrix, please refer to:
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff728623(v=exchg.150).aspx

For your question about password reminder, please try to confirm whether all account with same outlook version experience this question.
Please try to reconfigure or repair Outlook profile for testing, then you can try to open Control Panel\User Accounts\Credential Manager, then clear the remains credential and try again.

XP and Outlook all are on the same software version but some users are experiencing password prompt issue. Kindly guide the user contact shows in GAL but has been removed from Exchange. How to fix this problem as well.

Hi  ,

1.Alright if you provide the user name and password on the prompt does it get accepted and connected to exchange .

2.Please have the autodiscover name and internal outlook anywhere on the internet explorer proxy exception settings .So that those queries will not hit the ISA or TMG server for internet browsing ?

On the above step i would have assumed you are having the ISA or TMG in your environment for internet browsing .

3.Most importantly we need to refer and go as per the below article for windows xp systems to connect properly with exchange without any issues.

http://clintboessen.blogspot.in/2014/10/windows-xp-clients-must-match.html

4.Then another issue is about the deleted users are showing up in GAL ? I hope i am right .

For this issue please use the GAL from owa and search the recipient which is deleted on exchange .In case if it is shown on the owa then there would be two possibilities for this issue.

a.)GAL or Address list was not updated.

b.)second option is that the recipient is not completely removed from exchange.

Anyhow we will go one by one then only we can narrow down this issue.

Hi ,

Thanks for your reply.

If you don't want that user contact then you don't need to create the new one.Instead you have to do the following to make your outlook client to show the contacts as same as in GAL.

1.Please update the offline address book on the client end or else set the outlook client to use the exchange online mode.

2.Then please clear the autocomplete cache on the outlook end and check the results.

Hi ,

Turn on or off Cached Exchange Mode in outlook:-

https://support.office.microsoft.com/en-in/article/Turn-on-or-off-Cached-Exchange-Mode-e8966ca4-6ecd-4bdd-ade2-64993dda432b?CorrelationId=6559170a-5556-42af-a5c8-686ea06a1c71&ui=en-US&rs=en-IN&ad=IN

Clear autocomplete cache :-

Just try to compose the new email and on the To filed of outlook just try to type the email address which you don't want to have it on outlook cache and that will come automatically from the outlook cache after you type the few words of the email address. Then delete the email address by using the red cross mark symbol.
