Our office I.T. staff have reset my email outlook archive. Is there a way of reversing this reset? Like restoring to an automatic back-up or something similar? Thanks.

What do you mean with "Archive reset"?
If he deleted your pst-file, then restoring it from backup is indeed the only way to go. If you did not make any yourself you might be lucky if Previous Versions was enabled for the drive.
