Retry State in Exchange 2003, how do I address it?
I have a couple of Outbound messages for several domains and they are on RETRY state. Users complain that the email messages they are sending to these domains don't get sent out. How do I trouble shoot it? I am using MS Exchange 2003.

Hi,1. Verify DNS2. Verify the MX specified for the domains are accepting email (either nslookup with settype = MX, or use www.checkdns.net)3. If both of the above are fine, then either Telnet to the Servers to get a better response code which may contain more information, or enable SMTP protocol logging to dump this to file for you. You may find you are on a blocklist for example.OliverOliver Moazzezi | Exchange MVP, MCSA:M, MCTS:Exchange 2010, BA (Hons) Anim | http://www.exchange2007.com | http://www.exchange2010.com | http://www.cobweb.com |
