Retention policy to remove deleted items is not working on XCH2010SP2

Hi guys,

We use Exchange2010SP2.
I configured a retention policy (not before I obviously created a retention policy tag) to empty the deleted items from my outlook and my sysadmin (both on Outlook2010)

The age limitation for retention is 1 day and the action is perm' delete and yet, I still see items in my recycle bin that are over 5 days old. I configured this policy 4 days ago!
I know that there has been lots of noise about it from many other users who claimed that it worked well on SP1 but I am not sure if it has been fixed or not so I was hoping somebody here would be able to walk me to the right answer.

Thanks

Ro

Hi,

Please login your account on OWA and confirm whether the expired mails are also  shown there.

We can run the below command to check your retention policy configuration:

Get-RetentionPolicy -Identity "policyname" | Format-List

Please also run the following command to make sure the retention policy is applied for your mailbox:
Get-Mailbox -Identity your mailbox | fl Identity,*Retention*

David,

We do not use OWA here so I do have an account to access with.

I right-clicked on my deleted items icon and went to "properties" and "policies" and I do see that policy there but for some reason it still wouldn't delete it...

Any idea?

Hi,

Please confirm whether the issue happens to all users or specific users to narrow down the issue .

I suggest we can try to recreate a new retention policy for other mailbox.

If the policy can work,we can do a corresponding contrast to find the difference.

Regards,

David
