Retention Policy Tags and Archive Policy Tags
I have two questions about retention policy tags. My first question concerns something possibly specific to our company. We have corporate policies that require that untagged email be deleted from the mailbox after 60 days, and we have associated policies to match these. We also allow our users to tag items as Working emails (with an associated 2 year tag) and as Corporate Records (with a 7 year tag). My question revolves around how to determine how many messages in a person's mailbox have been tagged. We were hoping we'd be able to have the items move to the archive so we could quickly determine how much was tagged, but since moving to the archive doesn't "disable" the default tag ploaced on the folder, the messages would still be deleted at the end of 60 days. So is there a way to determine whether messages have been tagged? My second question is related to our situation - we want items tagged to be moved to the archive to be retained longer than those that remain in the active mailbox. I know this isn't built into the product as it stands, but is this something that Microsoft is working on? Thanks ... Will Martin

Hi, By default, there is not an existing cmdlet can count the tagged message, but you can use EXFOLDERS to export items properties to check if a message is tagged or not. for more information, please see: http://blogs.technet.com/b/surama/archive/2011/10/19/search-and-replace-retention-tag-on-microsoft-exchange-2010-mrm.aspx
