I'm lookingat a possible Outlook Anywhere deployment where the full Outlook clients would be unmanaged home computers. Is there any means in Exchange 2003 to:(1) Restrict the type of client connecting to specific versions of Outlook?(2) Control how mailbox email is stored and viewed on the unmanaged computer - no OST or PST files.We want to block end users from downloading company email to their home computers when they use Outlook Anywhere. If they had company managed assets on the domain there are other options, but that's not an option.

Unfortunately, if they are using Outlook Anywhere, then they will have to have an OST file. That means that company e-mail will be on their local computers. You cannot restrict the ability to use PSTs through Exchange, either. It can be done through a Group Policy Object, but that will not apply to home computers since they are probably not in the domain. If you implement Outlook Anywhere, then you are automatically restricting the user to a minimum of Outlook 2003. If you want to further restrict to a specific MAPI version, you can do that, but it is a bit tricky.
