Restrict Editing but use Format Painter

HI. I manage templates used by several authors in my workplace and have started using the Restrict>Limit formatting to restricted styles tool. This is great for our purposes other than it prevents the use of the Format Painter tool.

Is there any way I can maintain the style restrictions while having the use of the Format Painter tool?

Thanks

Most settings are disabled in a protected document, as you have noticed. This is by design. Instead of depending on the Format Painter, you should create styles for formatting purposes in the protected document.

Thanks for the reply Stefan. We write 1000s of pages and use a wide array of resources to compile our manuals. Format painter can be very time saving when it comes to applying different styles throughout selected parts of large blocks of text. I ask with respect that instead of avoiding the question, are you able to come up with a solution to this? I tried capturing the functionality in a macro (as I have done with other tools that are now restricted), but for some reason the Format Painter does not function (for me?) via macros. I need your help.

Thanks
