Restrict/SetSearchCriteria Error: 1162 Warning: fail to apply search optimization to folder (FID 4-107D2B71)
I have been seeing the following error message frequently on an Exchange 2007 server with Client Access, Hub Transport and Mailbox roles installed: Message: ID=1025 Source=MSExchangeIS Mailbox Store Type=2 Message=An error occurred on database "Primary Storage Group\Mailbox Database". Function name or description of problem: Restrict/SetSearchCriteria Error: 1162 Warning: fail to apply search optimization to folder (FID 4-107D2B71) Retrying without optimization. I have tried the following steps to resolve it to no avail: 1. Restarting the MS Exchange Search and Search Indexer services. 2. Restarting the Informatin Store service. 3. Running the "Test-ExchangeSearch" Exchange Shell cmdlet (results were successful). 4. Created a new storage group and moved the mailbox dataase to it. The error message also moved to the new storage group as well. 5. Re-ran the AD Prep switch from the setup Does anyone have any ideas???

Hi Xadean, You can run ExBPA and see if it gives any clue about this. Do you have any iPhone users on this mailbox store? I did find that, this error comes when iPhone users are using mailbox via IMAP and no workaround/solution and I think this error can be safely ignored. You can move any iPhone user to new mailbox OR move other user to new mailbox store to isolate the issue with iPhone users. If no iPhone users then there could be logical corruptions in database and you may need to run ISINTAG. ISINTEG fix -test alltests

Hi Amit, I tried the ISINTEG -fix -test alltests (which is one thing that I didn't think of} and I reviewed the log file and saw reports of corruption being repaired. I think that this may resolve the issue. I want to monitor it for a day before I reach that conclusion. Incidentally, there are no iPhone users on this particular mailbox database, but there are POP3 users. I also ran the ExBPA and nothing useful was indicated concerning this error. I realize that it may be safely ignored, but it is a nuissance issue. Thanks for your feedback and assistance.

Haven't seen the issue return in the last 24 hours. I think the problem may have been resolved. Thanks for your help.

I realize this is answered, but have a question. In reading up a bit on ISINTEG, it sounds like a tool that is intended for DR situations...not something that you just run when you want to clean things up. What is the risk of running this tool on an environment that is not having issues other than this 1162warning? Thanks

Hi guys Am getting the same error in my MBX server 1025 after rebuilding the search indexes of all databases. But when i went through the below link i came to know that it should be run only when activating the DR, assistance needed for that and proper backup is required for that. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb125144(EXCHG.80).aspx http://support.microsoft.com/kb/301460 Suggest me whether performing the ISINTEG test is the only solution or is there any other solution to get rid of this.
