I'm trying to restore data from the exchange server. Is there anyway to just restore certain items and not the whole mailbox? I need to restore notes and nothing else. When I look at the mailboxes, I'm having trouble determining where certain pieces of the mailbox are stored.

have you restored to a recovery storage group? From there you could exmerge out the mailbox to PST and just grab the pieces you want. Also, have you checked the 'recover deleted items' function?

I did check the recover deleted items function and it wasn't listed there. I haven't tried the recovery storage group,I will give it a try, being that I was just going to do a straight restore from backup. Thank You

Are you using NTbackup? BackupExec has the option to restore items via a brick-level restore. Though there are several options, including several 3rd party solutions, I would also using the RSG How to use Recovery Storage Groups in Exchange Server 2003 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/824126
