Restore mailbox and the -BadItemLimit option (exchange 2007 SP2)
What does it mean "BadItemLimit" My restore of the database was succesfull and have mounted the database succesfully after ESEUTIL /CC Still I need the option BadItemLimit 1000 So with the option BadItemlimit 1000 and 500 it will restore my data (great!), but what to do with the bad items? In other words what could be the case for these bad items?

Its very good question !!! As per my knowledge Parameter -baditem is those items which is skipped without verifiy and the BadItemLimit parameter specifies the number of corrupted items in a .pst file to skip before the operation fails. When you restore mailbox. This does not mean that it will be kept some where else. If you see much item in Baditem limit then you can repaire PST file in using any third party tool. Hope this info help you !!!Anil

Thanks for your reply! I know that the baditemlimit option specifies the number of corrupted items in a mailbox. But why are there corrupted items when the database backup en restore are completed succesful??? Is it a common thing to set baditemlimt for a restore action? It has nothing to do with PST files. I restore a database in a Recovery Storage Group on a Exchange server and mount the database and do a restore using the command "restore-mailbox" in powershell.

Hello, this bad items is already on your mailbox could be "rules, calendar, notes, etc...." it is not because of the the restore, you can also find this problem if you are trying to move the mailbox to another store in that case you will need to use baditemlimit paramater to move the mailbox in exchange 2003 up to 100 bad item can be skipped in exchange 2007 up to 2,147,483,647
