Resource-Mailboxes: delegates cant approve the requests
Hey there, after months of searching all over i hope you can help me. Scenario: Exchange 2007 SP3 Server with >1000 Clients (Outlook 2007 SP2) a room was setup as "Room A". Users b,c and d were set as delegates for the rooms, and recieve the emails to approve the room-requests coming in. Room A was setup to forward the incoming booking-requests to the delegates for approval. user b opens up an incoming request of user E and got no chance to click on allow/deny cause the buttons disappers immediatly and the blue I-Icon shows: "recieved for room A, You dont need to answer, the calender was updated automatically" some additonal facts: User a and c didnt open up the request before user b. User a is in vacation (with activated away-agent) and the other user is just away. User a, b and c are allowed to book the ressource room A automatically themselfs. (perhaps this is the cause ?) The questions i have: 1. Why is user b not able to answer the request / why appears the blue "just for your information"-button ? 2. Is it possible to change the system, so the approval-buttons change into the blue-button only when a, b or c has really answered to the request. (not only open it up) 3. How is the mechanism working? Whats about it? Is there any white paper? Is there "best-Practice-setup" out there ? Hope you can help me, i really appreciate it... Thanks! kindest regards Joel

Hi, Exchange 2007 identifies meeting resources as either a room or equipment and includes special attributes for each of these types of resources. The Resource Booking attendant provides the following features: Enforces maximum meeting duration Schedules meetings only during working hours Forwards out-of-policy requests to delegates for approval Provides conflict information for declined meetings So please try to use Get-MailboxCalendarSettings Room1 |fl to find all the settings on room1 and then post here. Resource scheduling in Exchange Server 2007 http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2007/05/14/438944.aspx More information quoted from “How to Create and configure a meeting room mailbox with Exchange Server 2007 (http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2009/02/26/450776.aspx)” Room with meeting requests forwarded to a delegate To set the room forwarding the incoming meeting requests to a delegate for approval, you must enable and configure policies, and define a delegate: Enable policies: set AutomateProcessing to AutoAccept; All incoming meeting request must be approved by a delegate: set AllRequestInPolicy to True and AllBookInPolicy to False ; Define a delegate under ResourceDelegates parameter. A Resource delegate will have the following permission: Editor on the Calendar folder of the resource mailbox; Editor on the "FreeBusy Data" system folder of the resource mailbox; Ability of "Send on behalf" of resource mailbox. What could cause the upper described behavior else? could be a bug? The problem appears randomly. The first moment, she CAN approve/deny the request and 1 Minute later, she cant do so due to the blue notify button. i hope you have some ideas left ? ;)

Hi, So far we do not have related product issue recorded. It could not be a bug. Since the problem appears randomly, I recommend you to check the health of your DCs. From the result, I found there's only one delegate for this resource mailbox. Please try to use get-mailboxpermission resourcemailbox |fl to check the delegate permission. Besides, I'd like to know if the issue only occur after she has responded the request. Regards, Xiu

Hi, thanks for your response. i checked the permissions. There are only domain administrators etc. listed for full access. The delegates are not listed for full access. The delegates got read/write permissions to the calender, but not to the inbox. Other others got read-permissions to the calender. The issue occurs just BEFORE she can hit "approve" or "deny". She just open the email up, and the blue "I" appears immedietly. :( i cant imagine whats wrong with it. You ?
