Rerunning ADPREP after removal of Exchange 2003
I migrated my Exchange 2003 server to Exchange 2010 and then decommissioned my Exchange 2003 server. During the install we ran a command to prep the Active Directory domain for Exchange 2003 and Exchange 2010. Now that the 2003 server is removed do we need to run a different Active Directory prep command to remove the 2003 server and/or configure Active Directory for the 2010 server only?

No. All prep does is prepare the domain for the new version. Nothing else. Simon.Simon Butler, Exchange MVP Blog | Exchange Resources | In the UK? Hire Me.

Thank you. I have followed all the steps to remove my Exchange 2003 server but when I run my Best Practices Analyzer it still shows my Exchange 2003 server as being installed. Is there a way to cleanup these references? Tom

Did the Exchange 2003 installation complete successfully, so the product is gone from Add/Remove programs? Have the servers involved been rebooted since it was removed? While it is possible to remove it, it is best to ensure that everything that needs/can be done, has. Simon.Simon Butler, Exchange MVP Blog | Exchange Resources | In the UK? Hire Me.
