Report on what % of mailbox size is attachments
Is there a way to runa report on how much space in a mailbox or storage group that attachments are taking up? I have run the Get-MailboxStatistics cmdlet and don't see that granularity in any of the switches. The reason I want to know how much space the attachments are taking up is because we have a 3rd Party archiving solution, Mimosa NearPoint. It has the capability of stripping attachments off of the Exchange server and leaving a stub in the email. This will reduce the size of the storage on the exchange server, but I wanted to give our Executives an idea of how much space we'll save and possibly even see which users have higher ammounts of attachments.

Hi, Based on my research, we do not have a command to get the attachment size of a mailbox or a store. You may need to develop a script to get the attachment sizes. For your reference: Mailbox Attachment Auditing Script http://gsexdev.blogspot.com/2005/08/mailbox-attachment-auditing-script.html If you have any further question regarding developing script, I suggest you post your question in development forum: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchangesvrdevelopment/threads Mike

Thanks to both of you, Mike and v-beta. The script is a little too involved and I'm no scripting expert. Although the Server Profile Analyzer might not provide the attachment auditing I'm looking for, it may be useful in other ways, so thanks!! I'll repost if I find any other way of attachment auditing. Thanks again.
