Renewing Certificates
The time has come for my Exchange 2007 servers to have their certs renewed. The one question I have about the process is this: does the renewal affect the end users? I am planning on regenerating the current self signed certs that we have been using.

What sort of end users do you have? (Outlook/Domain-Joined, remote, OWA etc...)

Hi, You could refer to the following article about how to: https://exchangepedia.com/blog/2008/01/exchange-server-2007-renewing-self.html For domain users, no impact. For external users, you may need to export the certificate and make it to be trusted by the clients. Thanks, Elvis

I should have been more clear in my question. What I am trying to determine is not how to renew the certificate, but if while I am doing it will the end users see any service loss (assuming of course everything goes as planned).

Ah. So you mean the time period while you actually update it? If the clients trust the cert, there should be no interruption. That's why a lot of that depends on which clients you support. And it could be problematic since you are using the Exchange self-signed cert.

Currently, we only have Outlook 2003 clients connected and do not use Outlook Anywhere. There are OWA users, but they are all internal and do not use https.

Ok, so if all you have is internal Outlook 2003 clients, then there should be no problems for those users.
