Removing an unused store in exchange server 2003 enterprise
What are the ramifications if I were to delete an information store in exchange server 2003 enterprise.. this store has no mailboxes, it was originally setup by previous IT folks and it was being used as an archived mailbox store. If i were to dismount and and delete the database would this affect my other stores? What type of problems would i run into?

Shouldn't cause a problem. However if it was the default store, then the system mailboxes will need to be recreated, which Exchange will do itself when the services are restarted. To be one the safe side, remove it out of hours. If there is a mailbox still using it, then Exchange will tell you. Then restart the information store service. Remember that mailboxes are only created on demand. Therefore it is possible for a mailbox to exist on a store but not be seen, if it hasn't been used.
