Removing FW: and RE: from Outlook email Subject field

I dont want FW: or RE: to be automatically inserted into the front of my Outlook Emails.

There doesn't seem to be an option to turn this off.

Does anyone know how to turn this off?

Hi,

What would make Microsoft design this presumption into Outlook?

If you have a document management system that you save your emails into, when you sort by subject, they all either start with RE: or FW:

That is short-sighted design in my opinion!

You can use this free tool to automatically clean subject removing all these FWs and REs:

This really does not solve the problem though. This is an after the fact process. The email needs to come in clean so that a typical business rule can forward an email to an application without the Re: or Fw: in the subject line.

Many document management and customer relations management software programs will not function natively with the Re: or Fw: because the default business logic is looking for a pattern in the first few characters of the Subject line.

I dislike having to customize an application to deal with this issue. Agreed, it is presumptuous.
