Removing Exchnage 2007 form an Exchange 2003 Org
I need to remove an Exchange 2007 Server that was installed in our Exchange 2003 organization, but I cannot remove the public folder store from this 2007 server. It says that there are still replicas on the server. I have tried using theExchange 2007 Public folderTool to removethe server from the replication list for all public folders, but I cannot delete the public folder. My goal is to remove the Exchange 2007 server and the New Administrative Group that it created so that we only have Exchange 2003 servers.I cannotuninstall the mailbox role form this server until the public folder store is gone form the server. There is nothing in the public folder I want to keep. How can I make sure nothing is replicuating to it so that I can delete it and then remove the mailbox role and exchange 2007 altogther?

You can override the safety check by using adsiedit to delete the public folder database. Additionally you can use the 2003 system manager to view the 2007 PF database and figure out exactly whats left and why its not replicating. But the bigger question is, Can you remove a Exchange 2007 from a 2003 environment? I am not sure. I know that the schema extensions will remain, and so will the groups and permissions set by /preparead. Why do you want to remove the administrative group? I'm also not 100% comfortable with this idea. -Not that you asked, just my .02 Mike Crowley: MCT, MCSE, MCTS, MCITP: Enterprise Administrator / Messaging Administrator

I was able to use a powershell command to move all replicas from the 2007 server to a 2003 server. Then I was able to remove the public folder THE NEXT DAY. This allowed me to uninstall the mailbox role fromt he server.

Great! Yes PF replication sometimes takes a while for seemingly no apparent reason. Technically it would have been possible to work through each component and ensure replication was configured to work faster, but waiting the full day is often just as easy!Anyway, glad you were able to make progress!
