Remove orphaned cluster config objects
Hi There, We are currently doing a POC of 2007 on Server 2008 in a CCR architecture. We had it all working well until our implementor deleted the high level cluster AD entry. Before we had a chance to restore it, other things were done that meant it was well and truly broken and nothing helped. We finally decided to start from scratch and delete our VMs and reinstall Exchange. Prior to doing this, we did a high level cleanup of the AD objects that we could see that related to our old setup. We assigned new names and IP addresses to everything so we couldnot conflict with anything done prior. After the re-install, we noticed that the objects from the previous install still showed up in the console under server config. The only place we assumed this data is being held is deep in AD but we don't want to go poking around too much and cause issues. Is there a way to safely delete these orphaned objects? Regards Chris

Issue description: Old AD objects still exist after you reinstalled server from scratch 1. What AD objects do you mean? 2. And when you said in the console under server config, did you mean that under Server Configuration of EMC? The method to manually remove exchange 2007 from ADSI Editor: a. Start->Run-> ADSIEditor.msc b. Configuration Container->CN=Configuration, DC= Domain_Name ,DC=com->CN=Services ->CN=Microsoft Exchange->CN= Your_Organization_Name->CN=Administrative Groups ->CN= Your_Administrative_Group_Name->CN=Servers c. See if you find old Exchange 2007 server object, if yes, right-click it and select Delete d. Click Yes in every adsiedit dialog box that prompts you to confirm the deletion
