Remove a single Exchange 2003 server from Exchange 2003/2007 environment.
We currently have two Exchange 2007 servers and two exchange 2003 servers. We have moved all the mailboxes from one of the Exchange 2003 servers and removed the server from any Public Folder replicas. Is there a special process to removing just this one server? We still have another 2003 Exchange server in production that we need to move mailboxes from but we would like to decommission this single server to free up space on our SAN.ThanksAaron

Verify below Points before you remove that server. 1> Is it hosting OAB? 2> Is it hosting any Connector such as Routing group? SMTP? 3> Replicate the Schedule Free info to ex2007 and OAB version 3 and 4 4>Is it hosting RUS? Once you are through with this then stop all services of this exchange server and monitor for any impact. See below articles http://www.petri.co.il/decommission-exchange-2003-servers-exchange-2007-upgrade.htm http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/Transitioning-Exchange-2000-2003-Exchange-Server-2007-Part1.html
