Remove Exchange 2007 Accepted Domains...
We have justtransitionedfrom Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007and are having an issue deleting some of the old accepted domains that we no longer want to accept mail for. When we try and delete we get an error "Cannot remove the domain '<domain name>' because it is referenced by the proxy address template 'smtp<domain name>" Where do I find the proxy address template? I have looked everywhere and cannot seem to find this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It looks like some email address policy (proxy address tamplate) is created with the accepted domain space. If so then first remove the email address policy and then accepted domain.

I have deleted the Email Access Policy for all domains I would like to delete. I rebooted the server and still receive the error message when trying to delete the accepted domain. Any ideas?

I had this same error message when I tried to remove an accepted domain. In my situation, I had mail contacts that were configured withan SMTP email address containing this domain name (as a secondary email address). I wentthrough each and every mail contact that we had in exchangeand made sure all references to this domain were removed. Then I ran the adsi edit referenced in the link above.I found my offending domain in the attribute named GatewayProxy. I removed it, wait a bit, and then was able to remove what I wanted. Thanks
