Best way to deletye log is take a full backup and then log will be purged. If you have any issue with backup then first dismount store and can delete log file older. We must cut and keep somehwre and later can delete it. Anil MCC 2011,ITIL V3,MCSA 2003,MCTS 2010, My Blog : http://messagingschool.wordpress.com

1. Which logs file are you talking about? Message tracking or transactions logs. For message tracking see below. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa997984.aspx 2. For transaction logs, you need to perform a backup, either a full or incremental. If youre not curretnly doing backups then introduce this, how often you do this type of backup will determince how often your logs will be deleted, so if you only back once in 30 days, then you logs will only be deleted after the backup on the 30th day. I'd advise you to backup everyday. 3. There is no setting which I am aware of that will delete the log files after 30 days. You must do this manually. You can use the database recovery management to remove/move the logs files too, it will identify those logs which can be safely removed. Or you can do it manually.Sukh

Hi, Microsoft recommends to making a full back-up regularly. After that, the transaction logs will be deleted automatically. So, according to your description, you can make a full back-up regularly and the time depends on your environment. Besides, I suggest that you don’t delete transaction logs manually. Without a complete set of transaction log files, you cannot recover any data more recent than the last full back-up. Hope this helps.
