Reinstall of Exchange Server 2003 only on a 2003 Small Business Server
Is it possible? Or do I have to do a total reinstall of the entire server? Issue is that I seem to have a corrupt Exchange Server. I can't delete or successfully create new mailbox folder stores (it looks like new ones are created but the files (.edb) never get created and can't successfully delete the exisitng ones even though there are no mailboxes in the stores. After 7 hours, I'm at my wits end. Please Help!!! -Karol info@cbsnh.comn

Hello Karol, Whats the error you get while deleting mailbox store? Have you mounted the new mailbox store after creating it? Once you mount the store it creates the edb/stm files automatically if it is not present at the defined path in the Database Tab of its Properties.

Hi Karol: could you provide more info in order to better troubleshooting for the issue? (1) which edtion of exchange server are you running in your envrionment? i guess it should be exchange 2k7, if i am wrong, pls free time to tell me; (2) do you enable avaliable for your exchange server ? CCR ,LCR or SCC? if you have enabled, you have to wait some minutes to effect impact; (3) when you deleted mailbox database, whether report error, pls post it to fourm; and check your application log, and find ,then post error log to fourm; (4) have you try rebooting exchange server ? and check "msexchane IS" whether start automatically; (5) pls run BPA to check , and post result to fourm? hope it helps; -jack

The new store would not mount. After much (&**& I decided since there were only 5 users and each had off-line folders, that I would remove Exchange and reinstall - which I did. Now I get the following errors: 1. When starting Exchange Manager MAPI32.DLL is not the correctversion. - but Exchange Manager starts anyway. I also noted the version currently installed (8/5/05) is the same one that was running before the hard-drive crash - so this isa mystery to me. 2. When I try to mount either the mailbox or public store An internal processing error has occurred. Try restarting the Exchange System Manager or the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service, or both. ID no: c1041724 Exchange System Manager 3. Also Error 9518 Error 0xfffff743 starting Storage Group /DC=local/DC=BellmanJewelers/CN=Configuration/CN=Services/CN=Microsoft Exchange/CN=BELLMANJEWELERS/CN=Administrative Groups/CN=first administrative group/CN=Servers/CN=SERVER/CN=InformationStore/CN=First Storage Group on the Microsoft Exchange Information Store. MDB failed to start. and Error 9519 Error 0xfffff743 starting database "First Storage Group\Mailbox Store (SERVER)" on the Microsoft Exchange Information Store. 4. Error 9175 The MAPI call 'OpenMsgStore' failed with the following error: The Microsoft Exchange Server computer is not available. Either there are network problems or the Microsoft Exchange Server computer is down for maintenance. The MAPI provider failed. Microsoft Exchange Server Information Store ID no: 8004011d-0526-00000000 Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Karol

Hi, Troubleshooting steps for the issue: 1. Please rename the \windows\system32\mapi32.dll, then copy MAPI32.DLL from the Exchange server CD-ROM (from the \setup\i386\exchange\bin folder) in to the \windows\system32 folder. 2. Please refer to the below kb articles: Exchange lb*.tmp files in the Windows Temp folder cause ESE -2237 error http://support.microsoft.com/kb/294462/en-us Information store does not mount with 0xfffff745 and -2235 errors http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307242/en-us Besides, you can reinstall Exchange via the below steps: To reinstall Exchange (with SBS 2003 SP1 already applied): 1. Switch to the SBS 2003 CD2, and then run "setup /reinstall". 2. Choose to 'Reinstall' against all the valid listed components in the pop-up page, and then start the reinstallation. 3. Choose 'Yes' when prompting to overwrite the newer version files. 4. Once the installation is completed, install Exchange 2003 SP2. 5. And then, reinstall SBS 2003 SP1. 6. Rerun CEICW. Hope it helps.
