Hello,
Does Outlook 2010 (or 2013) support "POSIX"-type regular expressions as a rule filter. Any other regex format will also do but I haven't been able to find any solution for this.
Would it be possible to, for instance, use a regex like ABC[0-9]{6} where the keyword in the subject of an email has to start with ABC with exactly 6 following numbers behind this and if the regex match to automatically execute a series of actions in the ruleset
behind it.
Your answer is appreciated.
Thanks

Hi erwin,
We cannot use regular expressions directly in a built-in Outlook rule, however you can use a "run a script" rule to trigger a script and the script can use regexes.
Hope this helps.

Hi Ethan,
Thank you for your reply.
So that would mean that I need to run this script on every email I receive? That's not very flexible and also creates a fair drain on system resources.
I need something that directly looks in the subject-line for something like I mentioned above. Strange this hasn't been implemented in Outlook by default.
Would be a very nice feature to have.

Hi Erwin,
This is currently not an option in Outlook yet.
We have passed this information to the product group
for consideration for a future product or update.
Thanks for your understanding.
