Red cross in Outlook. Images cannot be linked.

As mentioned above, I have this issue I get red crosses everywhere the images should be. However- at the webapp, this problem doesnt seem to occur.

I already set up everything in Safe center, disabling everything and such, but no lock. I looked into the register and tried to find a few regkeys which are posted somewhere on technet aswell, but didnt have any luck either.

Im out of options, can anyone care to help me out?

Because of the attached image file is lost, you are getting that Red cross symbol.

Hi,

Please check this option below, I'll take Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013 for example:

  • Click the New Email button or press Ctrl+N while viewing the Inbox.
  • Go to the new message's File, Options dialog.
  • Click Mail, then Editor Options
  • Select Advanced and look near the bottom of the dialog for the option to Show Picture Placeholders.
  • Uncheck the box to Show picture placeholders
  • Close the dialog then close the message.

This is usually the cause for the red x issue in Outlook, check if it is helpful to you.

Problem has been solved. There was a issue on the server that doesnt enable you to save encrypted pictures to disk.

After enabling it, the issue was solved.
