Hi, I'm transisitiong from E2007 to E2010. I have a valid UC certificate which i got it for E2007, which is working fine. Can i use thes same certificate for E2010, if i exported the cert from the MMC on the E2007 server into PFX with private key. Is this the way to import?. Any how when i imported the cert in the E2010 i could see it in the MMC and in the E2100 EMC but it under status it says, this certificate is not valid for Exchange !!! I deleted the certificate which i imported and reimported the origianl certificate (.CRT from godaddy). I could see this reimported certificate only in ther MMC but not in the E21010 EMC !! swamy

You can use the same certificate. How did you export and import it? Did you use Export-ExchangeCertificate, Import-ExchangeCertificate and Enable-ExchangeCertificate?Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems."

If the certificate has the server's real and FQDN names in it, then it isn't likely to work for Exchange 2010, unless you are using the identical server names for the new server. The public bits will work, but as Exchange is sensitive to the server name being in the certificate, then you may find things don't work exactly as planned. Personally I always budget for a new certificate, it makes life much easier. Did you install the intermediate certificate for GoDaddy, plus disable the root certificates if using Windows 2008 only (not R2). Simon.Simon Butler, Exchange MVP Blog | Exchange Resources
