Does anyone know of any (preferably free) edb mailbox recovery gui tools?

I am backing up exchange to edb and log files and think the recovery database method of restoring is so painful...

is there a gui tool out there that can just crack the edb open and extract or pst the required

both of these charge $$$ , i have tried http://www.edbmails.com/ which should do the same thing but my pst file ends up with just the file structure and no email although i can browse and read emails from within the app. any other ones you know of that are free?

I've also tried Edbmail for Exchange recovery as it is free, but it didn't work for latest Exchange version, and failed to recover in many other cases where I tested this tool. I'll still prefer Stellar mailbox recovery tool than any other third party software for edb recovery. You can try this tool here http://exchange.stellarservertools.com/

However if any free tool worked for you, its Okay!

ExMerge.exe is freeware utility provided by Microsoft, that helps you export your data from normal as well as corrupted EDB files into MS Outlook PST format. This utility is also used for importing the PST files into Exchange Server. This might be a difficult task to perform if you have no idea about it. Another Exchange Edb Recovery software which can recovers corrupt or damaged Exchange mailboxes & emails from corrupt, inaccessible, virus attacked MS Exchange(.edb) files data of all Exchange Server.

So something to keep in mind is;

1. There are several tools on the market at various price points

2. Price is always an issue but should NEVER be the issue is buying anything, instead look at the value provided, i.e. accuracy, completeness, support etc..

3. The more expensive utilities cost more for a reason, i.e. the old adage of you get what you pay for couldn't be more true.  Some fail miserably, others appear to work yet when you look close at the resulting data its clear they are neither accurate nor complete.  There are really only 3 great utilities on the market, Lucid8 makes one of them DigiScope, however since I am obviously biased if you want to discount us then the other two tools to consider would be PowerControls or Dell/Quest Recovery Manager for Exchange.
