Recovery Storage Group in Exchange 2003 and 2007
Hi, I need to recover some messages from a mailbox and I intend to use Recovery Storage Group in my Exchange 2003 and Exchange 2007. I do not have a backup software, just the off line files edb and stm from the both Exchange Servers. What is the procedure to copy the files in Exchange 2003 and 2007? I have tried to copy the files but no mailbox appear. If anyone can help me I appreciate. Thanks for while. Luiz

If the stores are in a clean shutdown, then simply copy the files into a temporary directory and setup the RSG using the paths and names of the files. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/824126 Look under the section called: Manually Copy Database Files to a Recovery Storage Group http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa997694(EXCHG.80).aspx

Hi Andy, thanks for the response. I already tried to replace the edb and stm files but no success, when I mount the Recovery database the files uses is a Recovery.edb. Do you know whatelse must I do? Thanks again. Luiz

Hi Andy, of course, here it goes: - I create the Recovery Storage Group using the standard configuration, Next, Next and Finish - I choose the First Storage Group database to recover and I create the Recovery mailbox database with the standard configuration too - I have the priv1.edb, pub1.edb, priv1.stm and pub1.stm files and I put them in the path where I configured Recovery mailbox database - I mount the database but no mailbox appears to me I followed the steps that are in the KB. Is it the correct? Thanks again, Andy. Best Regards Luiz
