Recovery Help Please!
Hey guys i know this may be the wrong forum but figured this would have a few more eyes looking at it. Long story short. Exchange 2007 SP2, mailbox server. I have an offline flat file copy of the priv.edb file. As long as I recreate the same storage group name same path, same edb file name and so on, is it possible to copy and overwrite the empty edb with the same name edb file that contains all the mailboxes and simply mount the database? Thanks guys!

Hi Mike,If the online flat copy (priv1.edb) is of the same server/ any server within the org & AG? If so, you will be able to mount it.If the Org name, Admin group name are different, you will not be able to mount it.Also, for the overwriting of the .edb file to work, you need to have the Information store service stopped. For mounting the database if the Org name, AG name is same, you need to make sure you have a check on "This database can be overwritten by a restore" check box and also you need to move the old log files and system file to a different location, which will mount the DB with a fresh sequence of log files and new checkpoint file.- Nagesh
