Recovering / Resending Undeliverable Email Messages in Exchange 2007
Delivery has failed to these recipients or distribution lists:For one reason or another, an email will be undeliverable. Typically the user no longer exists due to termination, etc. However the email message is still needed and can not necessarily be reproduced from the sender (automated system generated email for example). Is there a way in Exchange to recover the message and resend it? All you get in the message is the headers. Often there is an attachment, etc. and all is lost.

Assuming you're talking about incoming email, there is no way for Exchange to recover the message, because it was never delivered to a mailbox. If you need to keep them so they can be re-sent you need to set up a mailbox to route undeliverable email to. Getting it routed there is going to depend on your Exchange version.

Yes it was referring to incoming email. Basically we have a system user account from a mainframe that sends emails. In Outlook, I have the 'sender' account associated with that process and receive the returned messages. We are using Exchange 2007 so I assume routing undeliverable emails is an option. We would only want to do that for a few specific senders. I will discuss further with our network engineers, who informed me there was nothing they could do.Thanks for the feedback.

So you're needing to retain a copy of all the emails that the mainframe sent? Are those emails being routed through your Exchage HT servers?

Hi,For the unreachable message which received NDR, this indicates the message eventually expired to send this message and was deleted. Thus, there no place to recover this message and resend it.ThanksAllen

Hi there I recently migrated to Exchange 07 SP2 and now I've lost the functionality. What I need is to forward all my recieving emails (@MYDOMAIN.COM) that have wrong or miswritten email address. I've tried to figure it out how with no success (In Exchange 03 it was easy...) Any ideas ? Thanks alotRicardo R Franco ricardo.franco@netcabo.pt Lisboa Portugal
