Recover Purged Messages
Hi Everyone, I am trying to recover messages for a client. The messages have been deleted and then deleted again from the recover deleted items tool in outlook. I presume this means they have been purged?? Deleted item retention is on for 30 days on our sever. Is the only way to recover these e-mails to mount the store in a recovery storage group and then run the exmerge tool? If so can someone please provide brief instructions on doing that? I have created the recovery storage group and added the first storage group to it however in the c:\program files\recovery storage group folder it did not have any priv or pub edb files so i can only assume your working on the live storage group. I have tried using suggestions in Article ID: 178630 modifying the registry to send all items to the deleted items folder however there is still no items listed. To do this i added my user account full permissions to the target users exchange mailbox. I then logged in on my own account and setup a second profile in outlook which opened the target users mailbox. I assume this would work??? I cant try the OWA version as I dont have access to the users password and we would prefer it if they werent notified that we were trying to recover there e-mails as they are suspected of breaching company policy and contracts. We run Backup Exec 10D so I could go to the backup tapes however is there a way to redirect the e-mails to a different mailbox? If the items are stored for 30 days where are they stored and can we manually extract them? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Kind Regards, Chiper
