Recover Exchange 5.5 Public Folder from old server/domain?
I need to recover a public folder from an old Exchange 5.5 server. This server is part of a defunct Windows NT domain where the PDC and BDC have been decommissioned and destroyed. I can access the server directly, but the Exchange accounts no longer exist in any NT domain. Is there a way to recover this folder, move it to our Exchange 2003/2007 domain or in any way recover the messages within it? Thanks for any help. Jeff

I believe that all you need is an Exchange 5.5 server with the same name as the old one to recover the database. You'll need to run the IS/DS Consistency Checker to create the accounts in the domain, if I remember correctly. It's been a long time since I messed with that. Microsoft still has the Exchange 5.5 Disaster Recovery document on its website, and I suggest you consult it. http://www.microsoft..com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=df586628-3abe-40c3-8e8f-beb4122de3d7&displaylang=en-- Ed Crowley MVP"There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems.". Thanks Ed, I'll give that a shot. It's been half a decade since I had to deal with Exchange 5.5... :) Jeff
