Recipient Limit w/ server side distribution lists
I have an exchange 2003 server and we have a server side distribution list called TEAM that send to the whole company which is restricted to only management allowed to send. We found that people are getting around this restriction by copying the entire GAL. If i set a global restriction limit of 15 recipients in the system manager will that prevent management from sending to the TEAM list because it is over 15 recipients? Thanks in advance

That should do it but if anyone wants to send to more than 15 people that will be a problem obviously. I'm not sure how large your company is.Mark Morowczynski|MCT| MCSE 2003:Messaging, Security|MCITP:EMA 2K7,EDA Win 7,ES,SA,EA|MCTS:Windows Mobile Admin|Security+|http://almostdailytech.com

we have 250 people on the TEAM list. But i guess my question is if i set a global limit to 15 i know someone will not be able to send to 15 individual email but what if the TEAM list is selected? Basically will setting this limit cause problems with server side distro lists that have more that 15 people on it?

“The primary difference in message size limits between Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 and Exchange Server 2007 is in the handling of recipient limits. Exchange 2007 treats a distribution group as one recipient. Exchange 2003 treats each member of the expanded distribution list as one recipient. This change was implemented to avoid the partial message delivery scenarios that may occur in Exchange 2003” -------------Refer to <Managing Message Size Limits> Resources: Distribution Groups and maximum recipients per messageJames Luo TechNet Subscriber Support (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/subscriptions/ms788697.aspx) If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tngfb@microsoft.com
