Receiving Multiple copies of same email
There are two or three senders from whom I always receive 5 copies of each email sent. Anyone have any idea what is going on and how to correct it? I use Windows XP and Outlook 2003. Thanks for your help.

Hi, First, we need to confirm if the current issue is a server issue. Do you have Web access to your mail(just like OWA or any other web access service) ? If so, please go to the Web and log into your e-mail. If you only see one copy of the message in Web mail but you see multiple copies in your e-mail program you can be sure that the problem is with your mail program. If it is confirmed as a client problems, please check you outlook rules first. You mentioned the issue only occurs on only 2 or 3 specific senders, so it can be the root cause. I suggest refer to the following steps to narrow down our issue. Step 1. Disabling all the rules in Outlook ========================== 1. Open outlook, select toolsrules and alerts. 2. Uncheck all rules in the list and click OK. 3. Test the issue again. If the symptom disappear, check the rules carefully and it must be the culprit. If the issue still occurs, refer to the following suggestions. Step 2. Create a new profile =========== How to create a new e-mail profile in Outlook 2007 and in Outlook 2003 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/829918/en-us If the issue persists, lets move on. Step 3 Run Outlook in Safe mode ========================= The Safe Mode will disable all add-ins or extensions that will not start, or a corrupted resource, file, registry, or templates. Click Start->Run, Type "Outlook /Safe" (Without quotation marks and there is a space between "Outlook" and "/Safe") and press Enter. Does the problem occur in Outlook Safe mode? If the problem doesn't occur this time, please select Tools->Trust Center-> Add-In Tab -> COM Add-ins and click GO. Then clear all the checkboxes, add one check back each time to the list of Add-In, restart Outlook, and repeat the above procedure. Once the issue reappears again, we can determine which add-in causes this problem and then disable it. (NOTE: Maybe some of them cannot be unmarked, if there is, please bypass them) If the it is possible you can use Outlook Express to test the issue. However, if it is confirmed as a server issue which the suggestion I mentioned at beginning, please let me know. Hope this helps. Thanks, Elvis

Generally this is not possible. Usually we find an external or custom component causing some sort of loop. I suppose you could force this behavior with transport rules, but it'd be pretty unlikely.

I have the exact same issue - and have no rules set - this also occurs in Safe Mode Can you help?

Someone please help!!! I occasionally got two duplicate emails in my OE6, thought it was errror on part of sender, now since I unplugged mylaptop unknowingly and did not go in for a few days, battery ran down, this should not cause any kind of problems though, I restarted everything and first I noticed the email download was very slow!! then I see I am getting 6 copies of each email!!!! I have a roadrunnner account I share with desktop pc, only my mail comes to the laptop....the desktop email accounts are fine, I have tried to reach roadrunner, they gave directions to (which were wrong) change cookies and security level, before I could even state problem! I did this, and still the message comes up from them about cookies....we have had rr for years and had no problems until recently and you can never find the answer in their neumerous "Help" places, They used to have a live chat, with tech but I cannot find that anymore? was never any help anyway! quoted script! Now of course my inbox is filling up and I am getting messages from their admin to empty box....don't you love it? I have done nothing new that would cause any problems, I had a new board added to up space about a month ago... How do I know if Outlook is in catchet mode? any help is very much appreciated...but know I am not an expert on computer and Iam not verygood atfixes,need simple instructions, I have Windows XP with OE6 email, Time Warner cable internet... thanks in advance...Maggie

Maggie, first of all, we can all see you - theres no need to post in huge blue font. Second, this forum is dedicated to Exchange 2007 Server - not Outlook Express or Windows XP. Please post here in the future: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone/newsgroups.mspxYou also asked about Outlook in "catchet" mode. I assume you mean "cached mode" which is not a feature of Outlook Express, but of Outlook 2003 and Outlook 2007 when working with an Exchange server. None of which applies to your question.

What may be happening is the receiving Exchange Server may have sent an ack to the Sending Exchange Server but it never got the Ack so it kept on sending the message until either it got the reply or it timed out and would have sent and undeliverable back to the sender.

I’m also getting similar problem, here me and the sender are on the same exchange server. What happens is when click on any one copy of the duplicate mails, all these duplicate mails are getting selected and grouped together, once unselect all the duplicate copies vanishes, and unable to see in the OWA the same duplicated mails.
