Re-encrypt email's with a new certificate.
Hi, I am looking for a tool, a program to: We must replace the old smart cards and certificate with new smart card and new certificate (new keys). I must try to re-encrypt the entire users (encrypted) e-mails with a new certificate from a new smart card. Is any tool, program for this? I have Exchange 2003, Outlook 2003/2007/2010. Some emails on Exchange or in .pst file. Please advice me. Regards Jacek Marek

Hi Jacek, Without having additional details, i'm wondering if the old utility named SecTool from the resource kit would help? I know that SecTool could decrypt messages 1 by 1, or in bulk. For more information on this i would consider contacting Microsoft Support to obtain the latest available verison of the tool, and applicable hotfixes if this fits your needs. It can be challenging to go through public information on this tool as there are quite a few tools with the same name, and alot of documentation out there, but are not in fact the one for decrypting Exchange 2000 or Exchange 2003 messages. Hi Kevin, What details you need? I check this SecTool and this tool's re-encrypt message (unfortunately with the same key), switching encryption strength from a North American Exchange client (64-bit encryption) to an Exportable Exchange client (40-bit encryption). OK. This tool "can" decrypt/encrypt whole "folder" but is very old and now dont't work, with Outlook 2003, Exchange 2003... I need (looking for) better tool to re-encrypt email's with new certificate/key. Thank's for advice, regards Jacek Marek MCSE

Hi Jacek, Based on the information i have, the Sectool should work with Exchange 2003. You might want to consider contacting Microsoft Support to receive additional assistance and support regarding this tool or additional available tools to ensure whether or not it meets your needs. This is advice: Take file two file Etexch32.dll, Wmsui32.dll, from Outlook 97 (or Exchange 5.5 SP1?, Windows 98?) and copy to Windows XP \Windows\System32 folder. Take file Exsec32.dll from Outlook 2003 \Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office11 and copy to folder with SecTool.exe file. Run SecTool.exe. Regards Jacek Marek MSCE, CCA
